OK, I’ll be honest here… this is more for me than you.  Every week when I prep AirCheck, my Tuesday night world hits show, I go through so many charts and wikis that I often can’t remember where I found info about an artist, or to whom it related.  Creeping CRS.  😉  So i’m going to try it this way, using the OzBlog and ScribeFire to pull together the info behind my AirCheck show. We’ll see how it works.

This week is all Euro, because last week the flurry of activity around our license grant and a trip to the transmitter site made it a coasting week.  So, here we go, top to bottom.  New on the Euro200:

ROBBIE WILLIAMS – YOU KNOW ME

Robert Peter “Robbie” Williams (born 13 February 1974) is a BRIT Award-winning English singer and musician. He is EMI’s best selling artist, along with rock band Coldplay. His career started in 1990, at the age of 16, as a dancer and singer with the pop band Take That. He left the band in 1995 to launch his solo career.

It has been claimed that Williams has sold more albums in the UK than any other British solo artist in history and has won more BRIT Awards than any other artist to date. His album sales stands at over 55 million worldwide.

Ever since she was a child, Aura has dreamed of taking the world by storm with her music. Now, the 22- year-old Danish songbird is able to spread her wings via a major deal with Sony BMG in Europe.

X FACTOR FINALISTS 2009 – YOU ARE NOT ALONE

The X Factor is a franchise originating in the United Kingdom, where it was devised as a replacement for Pop Idol. The programs are produced by executive producer Simon Cowell and his company Syco TV.

PIXIE LOTT – CRY ME OUT

Victoria Louise “Pixie” Lot born 12 January 1991 in London, England) is an English singer–songwriter, actress, and dancer signed to Mercury Records in the UK and Interscope Records in the U.S. Her debut single “Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)” was released for download on 6 June 2009 and physically on 8 June, going straight to number one in the UK on 14 June 2009.

DAVID GUETTA FEATURING KID CUDI – MEMORIES

David James Guetta (pronounced GET-ah; born 7 November 1963) is a French DJ.  In 2009, Guetta produced the Black Eyed Peas song “I Gotta Feeling” for their album The E.N.D.

In 2008, he was elected as World DJ No. 5 and best house DJ by the British DJ magazine.  In 2009, Guetta was named the number 3 DJ in the world by DJ Mag.

JUMO SELESAO – LES JUMO (ZOOMER)

Jumo Sélésao is made up of Docta Lava & Linho de Gaucho who originiate from DR Congo and Guadeloupe.

Their mix of zouk and dancehall put fire at the dancefloors in the summer 2009.
They are part of the collective, Sélésao, which also has Jessy Matador.

DIAM’S – ENFANTS DU DÉSERT

Diam’s (born Mélanie Georgiades on July 25, 1980 in Nicosia, Cyprus) is a French-language rap artist of French and Greek Cypriot origin. Her family moved to Essonne (near Paris) in 1984.

REAMONN – AEROPLANE

Reamonn is a German rock and pop band that is well known all over Europe. They have recorded six albums.

EL CANTO DEL LOCO – QUIERO APRENDER DE TI

El Canto del Loco (The Song of the Madman in English. Sometimes abbreviated ECDL) is a Spanish pop rock band, although its members recognize that some of their songs are more in the style of power pop. The group was created in 1994 by Dani Martín and Ivan Ganchegui (who left the group in 2002) although the final five members would not come together until years later. Influenced mainly by other Spanish groups from the 1980s and with five studio albums, El Canto del Loco has gone on to sell more than a million albums

Marc Lavoine (born 6 August 1962 in Longjumeau, Essonne) is a French singer and actor. In 1985, his hit single “Elle a les yeux revolver” allowed him to reach the top of the French chart and marked the beginning of his successful singing career.

THOMAS GODOJ – NICHT ALLEIN

Thomas Godoj (born March 6, 1978 in Rybnik, Poland) is a Polish-German rock-pop singer and songwriter. He is known most notably for winning the fifth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar, the German version of Pop Idol.

LUZ CASAL – HISTORIA DE UN AMOR

Luz Casal (born November 11, 1958 at Boimorto, is a Spanish pop singer. She grew up in neighbouring Asturias, took singing, piano and ballet classes, and moved to Madrid to pursue a career as a musician.

SKUNK ANANSIE – SQUANDER

Skunk Anansie (or SA) are a worldwide multi-platinum selling English rock band whose members include Skin (born Deborah Dyer, 3 August 1967, Brixton), Cass (born Richard Keith Lewis, 1 September 1960, London), Ace (Martin Ivor Kent, 30 March 1967, Cheltenham) and Mark Richardson (born 28 May 1970, Leeds).

Skunk Anansie formed in March 1994, disbanded in 2001 and reformed in 2009. The name ‘Skunk Anansie’ is taken after the West African folk tales of Anansi the spider-man[1], with “Skunk” added to “make the name nastier.”

This is one of several reasons for the band’s American style of music.

CHIPMUNK – LOOK FOR ME

Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, (born 26 November 1990) is a solo grime artist, and was also member of the grime collective, Circular Movements. He is from Tottenham, England. He is best known by the stage name Chipmunk, which started as a nickname given to him by his friend Ben Broadhurst on the estate where he grew up, referring to the unusual shape of his teeth.

ARCTIC MONKEYS – CORNERSTONE

Arctic Monkeys are an English alternative rock band from High Green, a suburb of Sheffield. Formed in 2002, the band currently consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, guitar), Jamie Cook (guitar), Nick O’Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals).
